J. Wallace McMeel, MD

Dr. McMeel earned his medical degree at George Washington University Medical School, Washington, DC and completed an internship and residence program in internal medicine at George Washington University Hospital. He continued his studies with a residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Institute of the John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Schepens Eye Research Institute and Massachusetts Eye and ear Infirmary, Boston. Dr. McMeel is a clinical senior scientist at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of the Retina Foundation, Boston and a member of the Board of Ophthalmic Surgeons, Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. He was awarded the Charles Schepens Award, American Society for Contemporary Ophthalmology in 1984 and the Senior Honor Award, American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1985. He was awarded the George Washington University School of Medicine Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in 1997.
